Malaysia is a beautiful country. There are so many places to choose from, but this time around we decided to go on a half day trip from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Selangor.
The trip included seeing Silver Leaf Monkeys and Fireflies in the mangroves, dinner and a ride on the boat.
As soon as we have arrived to Kuala Selangor Nature Park, which is located close to the Selangor river, the monkeys were everywhere. There also was a big population of Long-Tailed Macaques in the park, but they seem to get on well with Silveleaf Monkeys.
After the arrival we have purchased a bag of monkey’s favorite food and the rest is history.
The park itself is charming and is home to an abandoned aviary and a Light House.
Fun fact: Silverleaf baby monkeys are usually orange and change to darker color after about 2 months.
There was an enormous amount of Egrets/Herons that roosted in large trees on the way to see the Fireflies.
Our river guides showed us many beautiful Fireflies, but of course it was impossible to catch them on camera in the middle of the night on a shaking boat. But trust me when I say – it was an incredible experience seeing them glow, they looked like bright stars.
